Denali Brooke: Painting the Figure in Pastel (Mondays)

Join Denali on Monday mornings to experience her unique and dynamic approach to working with pastels. This medium lends itself so beautifully to depicting the immediacy and spontaneity of life!

Students will be inspired to work gesturally with a new energy that is part of painting the human figure in pastel. We will paint directly from a model and learn how to “feel and observe more” about the shapes and textures present as light falls beautifully across the figure.

Denali will include short demos, encourage individual expression, and explain gestural lay-in and observational painting. Finally, she will discuss ways to preserve the energy of a painting as the artist strives to refine and finish a painting.

Artists working at all levels are welcome although some experience in drawing would be helpful. Please sign up early as class size is limited. denalibrooke@gmail.com
