Arden Hendrie: Introduction to Abstract Painting

This class welcomes all levels, novice to experienced, from the curious to those looking to push their art practice further. We’ll take a step-by-step approach to the abstract form, exploring its history and its technical foundations in composition, line, value and color. And we’ll have a lot of fun painting. Assignments will stretch the creative muscles, encouraging students to discover new paths to intuitive expression and spontaneity. We’ll also investigate the surprising sources of abstraction, from processes, to unloosed imagination, to taking inspiration from our everyday lives. Arden will provide guidance, technical support, and in-depth critiques of your work. Any type of painting media is welcome in the class, but those just starting out are encouraged to use acrylic
