Julia Lambright: Painting in Oils---Developing Your Visual Vocabulary (Mondays)

This course is a contemporary guide to traditional studio practices that are a must for anyone whose aim is to learn the essential techniques of oil painting. 

Artists who are familiar with this medium may find some surprises among the range of methods and find some new inspiration. Using tools and materials, the artist will also discover some of the basic properties of color and composition. 

Each of the techniques will be presented as an individual project and will allow participants to explore their own visual language. 

Painting methods will include: underpainting, fat over lean, alla prima, scumbling, oiling out, grisaille, impasto, palette knife painting, sgraffito, and more.
