Build your painting from the ground up! This weekend workshop offers simple, step-by-step approaches to a wide range of technical methods for painting construction and application.
On day one we’ll cover the different ways of creating a proper painting “support.” We’ll build, stretch, and seal our own traditional canvases, as well as examine techniques for alternative supports, such as wood panels and paper products. We’ll also learn to make and apply a recipe for marble dust gesso.
Day two focuses on painting applications. Instruction includes tips on color mixing, conservation-based paint application and removal, alternative painting tools, and how to make and apply painting mediums and glazes effectively.
This workshop is designed for painters of all mediums, but special emphasis is given to oil painting.
A materials fee of $15, in addition to the materials list on supply list, is due at the first class meeting and should be paid directly to the instructor.
