Denali Brooke: Animal Portraits in Pastel (Saturdays)

Join Denali for an in-depth exploration of drawing animals in pastel. Be inspired to capture the character of an animal or beloved pet through the immediacy and vibrancy of the medium. 

Students will create preliminary studies of their chosen subject applying Denali’s dynamic gestural approach, and then complete a painting in pastel by the end of the eight-week class. 

Learn how to most effectively work from photo references, compose a strong portrait space, create a variety of textures, and combine colors that best capture the essence of the animal. 

Students will advance their knowledge of the elements and principles of design. 

Artists working at all levels are welcome although some experience in drawing would be helpful.
