Ming Franz, Iris & Butterfly, watercolor
The single most astonishing fact about Asian Ink Painting is that each brush stroke is a defining move that produces a portion of the painting that is neither improved upon nor corrected.  No sketch is prepared and no model is used; the artist paints with rapid, mentally constructed strokes transporting a 'mind image' to paper.  Chinese Brush Painting is meant to be more than a representation of an object; it is also a symbolic expression. Rather than looking at the subject as you paint, you bring it forth from your mind and heart.

Tuition includes $30 materials fee.

Ming will give step by step instruction and demonstrations using Chinese brush and inks. We will cover the  peony, orchids, pine tree, camellia, wisteria, and lotus blossom as well as the butterfly and bee. For more information contact Ming, 505-281-4956 or visit www.mingfranzstudio.com. Or call NMAL, 505-293-5034.
