Rowland HibiscusJoin Cynthia for a delightful painting experience as she teaches you to paint the flowers of Hawaii. Her son lives on Maui and will ship the magical tropical flowers for this
unique botanical workshop at NMAL.

As Cynthia approaches painting from a sculptual standpoint, the flowers of Hawaii are perfect specimens for her to share her methods for creating spatial form. Flowers included in this workshop are anthuriums, lava plants, hibiscus, birds of paradise, exotic ginger flowers and orchids.

Each morning will begin with a demonstration and lecture so the student gains a better understanding of sculpting
the flower in space, with paint. Learning to see nature as structural form will improve your painting ability tremendously. Students will do small oil studies of the flowers and then create a colorful and dynamic still life incorporating the magical flora of Maui.

Flowers will be provided.
