Classical Figure Drawing has been a fundamental part of studying drawing for centuries. Artists work from the figure to learn how to construct form in space.

Classical figure drawing can help anyone to better manage the elements of design in their art; whether they be landscape, portrait, genre, abstract or representational artists.

Robin will help you develop an understanding of how human perception of light, as it reflects off of matter (the human form), meets with our ability to render visual phenomenon. This becomes the basis of a fundamental experience in observational drawing.

Academic approaches to drawing will be covered, including; developing composition, managing space through the “envelope”, measuring proportion, “triangulating”, constructing form, balancing light and shadow and rendering.

This course will include both short and extended-long pose drawing. Brief demonstrations will be followed by short guided practice and sustained development of a long term drawing.

This class is designed for all artists who wish to study the figure; from beginner to advanced.

Please sign up early; class size is limited.
